Show Notes

The Berkshire Edge LLC is a locally owned, regional publication. Our goal is to provide – regularly and in depth – content that truly reflects the life, interests and aspirations of this unusually rich and vibrant community.

Guided by respected journalistic standards, the principle of fairness, the quest for truth, a commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, and an abiding admiration for the independent spirit of the Berkshires, The Berkshire Edge offers in-depth local news reports and features, perspectives on the arts, wide-ranging commentary, and a comprehensive calendar of events – all written, illustrated, and, in some cases performed, with wit, intelligence, insight and humor.

1.  In this pandemic era South Berkshire County schools have had to get creative about how to honor and celebrate the 2020 graduating class:

2. And the Berkshires have been participating in the outrage over the murder of a black man by police in Minneapolis. Demonstrations in support of Black Lives Matter have taken place in Pittsfield, and more are scheduled:https://theberkshireedge.com/hundreds-pack-park-square-to-protest-police-brutality-and-racial-injustice/
3. With the turmoil in the streets the suffering in the hospitals should not be forgotten. Gov. Baker has issued new guidelines for how the state can reopen camps and child care facilities:

4. Through Chang-Chavkin program five Berkshire high school seniors have been awarded full scholarships to college. Among the qualifications is that they be the first in their families to go to college:https://theberkshireedge.com/chang-chavkin-scholars-program-for-first-generation-college-students-sees-impressive-2020-cohort/
5. Now here’s something closer to home — your home: The battle over Sunday racing at Lime Rock Park. https://theberkshireedge.com/neighbors-win-pitched-battle-over-sunday-racing-at-lime-rock-park/
And our story led to a letter writer, a second-home owner, who declared he loved car racing and was upset to read that new Yorkers were the ones who had been complaining about the thunderous race track:https://theberkshireedge.com/some-new-yorkers-love-racing-at-lime-rock-park/
6. And finally, on a cheerier note, it seems that despite the pandemic, or perhaps because of it, gardening seems to be flourishing in the Berkshires:
