Show Notes

The Berkshire Edge LLC is a locally owned, regional publication. Our goal is to provide – regularly and in depth – content that truly reflects the life, interests and aspirations of this unusually rich and vibrant community.

Guided by respected journalistic standards, the principle of fairness, the quest for truth, a commitment to social, economic and environmental justice, and an abiding admiration for the independent spirit of the Berkshires, The Berkshire Edge offers in-depth local news reports and features, perspectives on the arts, wide-ranging commentary, and a comprehensive calendar of events – all written, illustrated, and, in some cases performed, with wit, intelligence, insight and humor.

This week we’ve had a slew of education stories:

1. It’s town election season in the Berkshires, and in Lee the key issue was the proposed PCB dump that led to the demise of a 12-year veteran of the Selectboard:https://theberkshireedge.com/campaign-fought-over-pcb-dump-ends-with-landslide-ouster-of-12-year-incumbent/
2. The pandemic is not going to deter Great Barrington from catering to tourists.. they’ll just have to eat on Railroad Street…. literally, on the street:

3.  Meanwhile, Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker has announced the end of all COVID-19 restrictions on May 29 — just in time for Tanglewood!:

And in fact, Tanglewood tickets went on sale Monday, and it will be a star-packed season:https://theberkshireedge.com/tanglewood-tickets-on-sale-today-at-10-a-m/

4. In front of Great Barrington’s Town Hall this past Sunday there was a rousing demonstration against the violence in the Mideast — expressing support for the Palestinians… supporters of Israel also showed up:https://theberkshireedge.com/in-gb-peaceful-protesters-deplore-middle-east-violence-differ-on-whos-at-fault/

5. And to make the pandemic pause more relaxing, a fourth cannabis retailer has opened up in Great Barrington:https://theberkshireedge.com/fourth-cannabis-store-opens-in-great-barrington/
